33 (32) Argyle Road

Only found between 1899 and 1903, and originally numbers 32, but the road was renumbered about 1910 and it is suggested by Stuart Axford that it is now numbered 33. If that is so this could have claim to being Whitstable's smallest public house.

Stuart goes on to say:- "The name is highly unusual; indeed, I haven’t been able to find any other public house in the UK with this name. Perhaps its original owner was a soldier returning from war and wanting to rest his banner (there is a town in South Africa similarly named for this reason)."
