Michael Mirams suggests that this may have been the building situated next to the "Neptune's" Hall in Harbour Street.

I also know of another "Five Bells" but with the address of Margate.

 

Kentish Gazette. Saturday 24th March 1770.

To be sold to the highest bidder, on Wednesday the 28th instant, at 2 o'clock, at Mr. Durrant's, at the sign of the "Five Bells Inn," Broadstairs.

All that good Sloop or vessel called the Friends Goodwill, (but formerly the King of Prussia) Burthren about 60 tons, whereof Thomas Baker was late Master; being well found and in good condition, and a prime Sailer. Inventor is to be seen at the place of sale.

Also to be sold at Dover, very good salt cod at three half-pence per Pound; as also some clean salt.

Enquire of Joseph wheels, sail-maker.
