Hunter's Moon 1949

Above photo 1948, kindly sent by Tim Timpson. The back of the photo said this was taken by de B Galway and was called the "Hunter's Arms" but I believe this was a mistake.

The "Hunter's Moon" is situated on the west side of the High Street, gained it's Grade II listing on 29 December 1966.

It was formerly a pair of houses, one known as Magpie Cottage now combined into just the one house and timber framed and part flint of late 17th century, with two weatherboarded lean-to with rear stack to each gable end.

It gained its name as the "Hunter's Moon" when it operated as a Tea Shop from the 1930s to 1950s and as far as I am aware it never held a drinks license. Although looking at it, you would be forgiven if you thought it had one with it's hanging pub type sign.
