Rhode Common Dunkirk
I am informed by Gary Tong that his father born 1909 used to mention a pub called The Dun Cow shown in the photos above, and confirmed as such by the owner that is was indeed this pub, although it was never open in his day, and was in the area or Boughton under Blean, on the border of Dunkirk, Oversland, Selling and Rhodes Common. Our thoughts are that the pub catered for the 'navvies' that were involved in building the railway cuttings and Selling tunnel, the railway opened in 1860. Further information appreciated.
