Church Street Higham
I am pretty sure this is the same building as the "Rising Sun," and had dropped the word "Rising" from it's name some time before 1980. I am informed that the pub closed some time in the 1980s and was a tied Inde Coope house that also used to sell eggs and sweets from behind the bar. When you ordered your pint the licensee would go down to the cellar of it and appear again with it in a jug. Further information and a photo of the house when open appreciated. The parish church, just four doors away from the "Sun," is where Charles Dickens' daughter, Catherine, was married in 1860. I trust the groom, best man and friends popped into the "Sun" for a couple of sharpeners! As indicated on Lamber & Fosters Estate Agents web site in 2021, the premises was recently sold for £430,000.
