Not sure whether this ever did get a license, but said to be 50 yards from the "Jolly Sailor," of which I believe was probably the one located at 16 West Street.

SITTINGBOURNE PETTY SESSIONS.

Monday, before E. Twopenny, (chairman), J. D. Dyke, Sir T. M. Tylden and the Rev. G. B. Moore.

General Licensing Day.

Mr. Hills applied for a license in the name of Mr. J. H. Burley, for "Rose Cottage," situated in Mile Town. He grounded his application on the fact that a house was wanted in that part of the town and that Mr. Burley was going to make it a first-class house of accommodation for both man and beast. Mr. Wightwick opposed and represented that the house was within 50 yards of the "Jolly Sailor" and also submitted the fact that although a plan of the house had been laid before the bench, the alterations suggested were not yet made, and he thought the proper time to apply for a licence was after the house had been altered. Application refused.
