Alf Ramsey's team included the late George Cohen, who lived in Tunbridge Wells. Permission was given in 2017 to knock down the pub in Broadmead to make way for four houses.

Loyal punters had tried to protect the pub from closure and development. Supporters said it had been popular with tradesmen, families and people of all ages and was used as somewhere to go to mark christenings and funerals and everything in between.
