PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1859-

Brockley Arms

Latest 1859+

Brockley Lane

Deptford

I have found several pubs in the area with the name Brokley in their title, but this one only identified at present in 1859. I don't know whether it is connected to any of the others with the same name yet, and think it is one in its own right as the licensee lists and dates don't tally with any of the others with similar names.

From the Borough of Greenwich Free Press, 12 March, 1859.

A Publican imprisoned for Stealing a Sack of Coals.

On Tuesday last, a carman, named Duke, in the employ of Smith, Shepherd, & Adams, was charged with stealing a sack of coals, and Mr. Meade, of the "Brockley Arms," Brockley-lane, was charged as being the receiver. Duke was sentenced to three months’ and Meade to two months' imprisonment in Maidstone Jail.
