Seabrook map 1943

Above map 1843.

Above Google image, July 2009, showing the alleyway leading to Beacon Terrace. It is, as yet unknown whether any of the two houses was the pub.

Above Google image, June 2017. The house central looks to me more likely to be the "Royal Oak" than the other photo. Local knowledge required here please.

Situated along the Seabrook Road, on the corner with Beacon Terrace.

It is said that Elizabeth was still the licensee in 1871 when the house closed, but had been assisted by Frederick and Catherine Koch, who are listed in the Census of 1861 as being beerhouse keeper and wife at the same address. From 1765 her nephew George Higgins also helped Mrs Francis.

After closure in 1871 Elizabeth Francis and George Higgins, his wife and three sons continued to live there.
