Orr's Kentish Journal, 22 March 1862.

Patrick Conner, North Kent Grove, Woolwich, was charged on a summons with biting off the finger of Catherine Duggen, at Maddigan's beer-shop, 27, High-street, Woolwich, whilst she was assisting the landlord. The finger not being found it is supposed the prisoner swallowed it. The disturbance rose through some dispute, and the magistrates ordered the accused into the dock on remand.
