Sittingbourne

Not a lot known of this one at present apart from mention of the "Horn" in Sittingbourne from an article regarding the loss of a gelding in Teynham, Green Street Green in 1726. By 1729 it appears the premises had already been converted into a private house some time previously.

From the Kentish Weekly Post, 23 February, 1726.

Stolen or stray'd last Sunday night from the door of Mr. Hefmer's at the "George" on Greenstreet Green near Sittingbourne, a large black gelding, full 15 hands high, low back, a small scar in his breast, a rat tail, a scar on one of his hind feet near the cutting place: he paces easy and trots hard: whoever can give notice of him (so as the owner may have him again) to Mr. Robert Dean in North Lane, Canterbury, or at the "Horn" in Sittingbourne, or at the "Swan Inn," Maidstone, or at the "George Inn," Dartford, shall receive half a Guinea reward, with all reasonable charges, and no questions asked.

From the Kentish Weekly Post, 18 January, 1729.
