Built originally as 5 town houses in 1861 the building became two hotels in the 1930s and by 1934 22-24 was known as the "Hotel Ambassador." By 1980 the two hotels merged into one and is now operating under the name of the "Southcliff Hotel." The building gained a grade 2 listing on the 27 November 1974.

The premises was licensed but you would probably have to be either a resident or guest to gain entry.
