I must admit I know absolutely nothing about a pub called the "Pyd Bull" in Ashford and haven't found any reference it it al all, but it turned up in a collection of photos taken by Jim Ashby and kindly sent by Christopher Green. In believe it was the Nationwide building. Dave Down says he has personally seen two tokens from the pub, a farthing from the 1660s marked Frances Baylef at the - Pyd Bull in Ashford - F.I.B, and a halfpenny marked Thomas Clerke at Ye Pyd - Bull in Ashford 1668 - His Half Peny. T.E.C. Under the two lions above the archway (Bull Yard) ran an old bridleway being one of the original cattle droving routes to the market, a field behind being called Bull Mead.
