Farthing token for Taylor's Arms

Above farthing token undated, showing a Merchant Taylor's Arms and the name FRANCIS SAUNDERS, and IN CHATHAM on the other.

This is more than likely not a public house but just a shop such as a Taylors for the Merchant Navy, but could be a pub all the same. The Arms possibly being the Guild Crest and not Arms as is public house, but these tokens were popular for both types of establishments during the 17th century, and were used to pay for goods in the premises named. Most having been found dating 1666.
