Closed New Cross pub the White Hart reopening as The Broken Wheel.
Work is underway on renovating and reopening a well known New Cross pub
which closed in 2020.
The former "White Hart" is to become the "Broken Wheel," with the building
is one of the oldest pubs in New Cross and occupying a prominent spot at
the junction of New Cross Road and Queens Road.
Plans were submitted this year covering work on the listed building.
That was approved last month.
Work includes “replacement glazing to windows, repainting of the
external joinery, the installation of a new awnings and external
lighting to the front, the installation of new extraction and plant
equipment to the rear elevations and roofs”.
An Instagram account shows its opening due in autumn and work well
underway inside.
It’s not just the pub which is listed but an ornate pipe outside, which
apparently was once used as ventilation for toilets.
