This is another one of those strange cases where I have managed to find reference of an off-licence but don't know how long it served for or indeed whether it had a name.

However the licensee list shown below suggests that it was operational between 1897 and at least 1908.

DOVER BREWSTER SESSIONS

WANTED A WINE LICENSE

On the name of Mr. Wiles, who holds and off-license at 95, Clarendon Place, being called, Mr. Hatton Brown came forward and said that the holder had asked if he might have a wine license.

That simple method of approaching this Court on a grave matter which is fenced round with many preliminary regulations, excited the risibility of the Court, and the Clerk closed the incident by remarking that “he may ask, but if he wants the license he must make another application in the usual way.”
