4 (11) Robert Street Deal
Building was still being built in 1863 an a report in the Deal, Walmer & District and Kingsdown Telegram reported the following:- 10/9/1863 License applied for by J. G. Friend for music and concert room of Alhambra now being erected in Robert Street. Adjourned and refused as premises unsuitable. However, in 1864 the Deal Licensing Register reported that a Spirit Licence had been granted but that in 1877 it was refused. The licensee George Friend also traded as a carpenter in 1870. That's the last I have heard of this establishment. The numbers I the street have changed over the years, originally listed as number 11 the building today is number 4 and titled Cherry Tree Cottage.
