An out-door beer license at 77, London-road, Southborough, was transferred from Charles Russell to William Hollands.

TONBRIDGE PETTY SESSIONS. SOUTHBOROUGH. DRUNK.

James King, grocer, of Southborough, pleaded guilty to being drunk at Southboro’, on the 21st ult. Sergt. Fry said that about three o’clock in the afternoon on the 21st alt, he was going through the village, when two or three people said ‘Mr. King is on the drink again. It is quite time something is done to stop him running about borrowing money to get beer.’ He went up and found the defendant in a grocery shop kept by Mr. Macdonald. He was lying his head on the counter half asleep. Mrs. Macdonald requested him to take the defendant out and he did so. He told defendant to go home, and said it was a pity he got in such a state. Defendant staggered about and said he would put witness on his back. Defendant was in the habit of drinking at times. Defendant went home with another man. He had a shop of his own, and had a very good business of his own situate in Arnolds’ Row. When sober defendant was a very quiet man. Mr. Pott: Any relation to Mr. King, of the Post Office?

Witness:- No sir. The Bench fined the defendant 5s and 9s costs, which he paid.

TRANSFERS.

An out-door beer license at London Road, Southborough (temporarily) from Mr. Frank Jenner to Mr. John William Edwards was adjourned for a week, in order that enquiries might be made as to the applicant's character.
