Known previously as the "Queen Victoria", the alteration was made by James Bennett in March 1865. Luckily for us because little else is known about this establishment, apart from the following report of drunkenness.

From the Dover Express and East Kent Intelligencer, 20 May, 1865.

DRUNKENNESS

John Predmore, groom, charged by police-constable Bowles with being drunk and disorderly at the "Black Horse" public-house, Blenheim Square, on the 9th May, was cautioned, and directed to pay 2s. costs.
