Only reference found so far is in the Wingham Division Ale Licence list,
which shows the "Bull's Head," Ash, to be re-licensed for the sum of 8 shillings in
1740 indicating that the pub was present before 1740.
In 1755 it was used to billet soldiers, along with the other pubs in the
area.
Pigots directory of 1828 gave it the title of the "Bull."

TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION
At M. Hammond, at the “Bull's Head” at Ash near Sandwich, on Saturday
the twenty ninth of October, Instant.
A Commodious genteel House, with a spacious Cellar, a near Garden
Orchard, and a fine large Building, late a Stone-house for Beer, which
at a trifling expenses may be made into a Coach House and Stabling;
situate in the Middle of Ash aforesaid, near the Church, now in the
Occupation of Mr. Daniel Stoddard. Also Five Acres of fine Hop Ground,
which lies contiguous to the premises.
