PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1755-

Duke William

Latest 1760+

Ash Street

Deal

Found mentioned in the Kent Post of 1760 and obviously up for sale. Whether indeed it continued as a public house after this date is unlikely as I haven't seen it mentioned after that year at all.

In 1755 it was used to billet soldiers, along with the other pubs in the area.

I am not certain where Ash Street is, but at present I have placed it in the Deal boundary, but it could fall within the Ash parish boundary's. Local knowledge needed here.

From the Kentish Post, January 19-23, 1759. Kindly sent from Alec Hasenson.

For sale, public house in Ash Street, Deal, called the Sign of the "Duke William."
