Craig Bailey has recently sent me a picture of the sign that says it's the "Partridge" and wonders whether it came from the pub with the same name in Bromley. At present no other information is known. My answer was as follows:- To date I haven't seen this sign being attached to any pub with that name in Kent, but that doesn't mean to say it wasn't owned by the pub in question. However, I don't think it would have been used as an outside sign due to bother the make up of it and also the fact that it doesn't mention the brewery that I believe the pub would have been tied to. It looks to be like it's painted on pine planks attached together loosely and given that old-fashioned look. There was a firm about, although I don't know the name of such that used to produce such signs, and you can still see them in many pubs inside. I'm not sure whether they were especially commissioned for individual pubs or just made and sold to antiques shops in the hope that a pub or interested person would purchase them. I also don't know what the cost would be, but certainly don't think they are as old as they are made to look.
