Alkham
Reported as selling beer in 1589, the Golden Bush was somewhere in South Alkham, around where the Carpenter's Arms used to be, but unfortunately no more is known about it. In 1653 a victualler called Richard Thomas took Henry Richards of Canterbury to court for bigamously marrying his daughter, who died in childbirth. Richard Thomas owned property in South Alkham at that time, and so he may have been the licensee. This property may be the same building, although rebuilt in the 1840's as the "Carpenter's Arms".
LICENSEE LIST THOMAS Richard 1653.
