Kelley's directory mentioned George McLachlan as merely a beer retailer and no address or pub name, but further research by Jan Pedersen has found reference of a Mr. McLachlan being granted the renewal of his license reported in the Hythe Reporter of 15 January 1898. The name of the pub being the "Gun Tavern."
