From the Dover Express, 1979.
Slum clearance in Dover, or lack of it, came under fire at Wednesdays
Dover District Council housing committee meeting when members said the
current scheme was not expensive enough.
The council are planning to pull down some of these substandard homes in
Albany Place, pictured above, but members of the committee felt that
many homes in the area immediately surrounding the effective houses
should also be included.
Councillor Peter Mee said he had visited one home which was in an
appalling condition and yet it was not included in the demolition plan.
The committee agreed to go ahead with the scheme but they also
decided to look at other substandard homes in the area with a view you
to demolition if necessary.
