Black Robbin's Corner
Barham
Only reference found so far is in the Wingham Division Ale Licence list,
which shows the "Horse's Head," Barham, to be re-licensed for the sum of 8 shillings in
1740 indicating that the pub was present before 1740. Further research has
shown this as below and also found in Bagshaw Directory 1847.
From the Kentish Gazette, 15 December 1846.

The above address of Black Robin's Corner suggests that the pub was
actually in Kingston. The other pub in Kingston, the "Black
Robin" cannot be the same pub as this as both were named in the 1740
list.
However, further research also suggests that the house could well be "Horsehead
Farm" situated near Grooms Cottage in Covet Woods, south of the Cover
Lane which is sort of an
extension to Black Robin Lane.
Horsehead Farm is situated in Covet Woods by Grooms Cottage. |
