73 Beach Street Deal
Just the one entry for this beerhouse mentioned in the Deal Licensing Register of 1869. It was not licensed in 1872 or 1873, and the Deal Mercury of 9th September 1871 reported in the Borough Petty Sessions the following:- "The Jolly Butcher's," Beach Street, was the only house that had ceased to exist since the last licensing day. However, by 1875 the property was trading as refreshment rooms with Stephen Pain Job as landlord and he was still there as late as 1904 when the premises was referred to as refreshment rooms. Again, refreshment rooms as late as 1913 but with Mrs. E Wedge as proprietor. It is unknown whether they held a license during these times but may well have had as Pain was fined 5s for being open during prohibited hours.
