Starting off as two cottages this opened as a public house in 1868 by Henry John Maclachlan on his 18th birthday, this was locally known as "The Hole In The Wall."

The premises eventually closed June 1963, the licensees at the time a Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fieldsend, moving on to the "Fleur de Lis."
