Cool and uncluttered, the "Old Brewery Tavern" is a purpose-built modern British pub and restaurant in the historic city of Canterbury. Part of the chic ABode Hotels group, this is an upbeat contemporary space, split between a bright decked courtyard with sliding glass windows, a cosy lounge and a more traditional central dining area with chunky wooden tables and chairs. Honest, robust modern British cooking results in satisfying dishes featuring freshly caught fish and meats such as Sussex beef and Romney Marsh lamb, accompanied by local and regional cask ales and an extensive wine list. (So their advertising says.) At the time of writing this (September 2020) I am informed that this may be a casualty of Covid as Rory Kehoe informs me that it is closed and appears to be having the contents ripped out of it. Their web site says it closed before Covid in January 2020.
