Notes of 1770

 

 

From the Kentish Gazette, 31st March 1770.

“Broke open a few days ago. A storehouse in the Old Castle in Canterbury belonging to Mr William Sankey, Brewer, in said City, and a considerable quantity of beer was drawn out of several Butts and taken away. Who ever will give information, so that the person who committed the theft may be brought to justice, shall receive five guineas reward.

Notice is also given, that a Spring Gun is now fixed in such a manner as to fire off immediately on the doors being broken open”.

ELOPED.

On Thursday the 29th Instant, Ann Piddock, Wife of Charles Piddock, Victualler, of Dover, with William Kiddham, Cooper, of the same Place.

This is to forewarn all Persons from trusting her, as her said Husband will not be accountable for any Debts she may contract. - Whoever harbours her will be prosecuted as the Law directs.
