Tonbridge. Insolvent Court.

John Smith a publican in Tunbridge, Kent, came up on Monday to be discharged. According to the insolvent's statement, his father died when he was a child, and his mother again married a person of the name of Chevring, when he was about 16 years of age. Under his mother's will he was entitled to a house, which, however Chevring got possession of, and continued in it long after the insolvent came of age. In 1828, the insolvent agreed to give Chevron £400, for the house, £2000, in money, and the rest secured on mortgage. Notice of a Chancery suit, arising out of this, having been given him, in February last he came to town to see about it, and was arrested by Charles Thomson, a publican, in the Camberwell-road. A copyhold estate worth about £200, was put in the schedule, and available to creditors, the title deeds of which were stated to be in the possession of the insolvent's former attorney, who had no lien upon them, but it appeared that that attorney was acting for a party who had been filed the bill in Chancery against him, the case was adjourned, in order that inquiry might be made into the matter.
