I have no information regarding this pub at all at present, and only found the name listed from the http://www.faversham.org website.

The building was given a grade II listing on 3 August 1972 and describes it as a 17th century building.

I have just added the pubs of Faversham after a visit to the hop festival in 2012.

I will be adding further information as time allows, but with my site getting ever larger, time spent on each pub is being watered down unfortunately. Your information, photos, old or new and licensee names and dates is much appreciated.

From the Kentish Gazette, 23 May 1865.

FAVERSHAM. Borough Police Court.

Wednesday. (Before the Mayor and W. N. Spong, Esq.)

Alfred Godden, the landlord of the "Bell Inn," Faversham, was charged by Mrs. Stratford, a travelling hawker, with assaulting her at his house, on Sunday night last.

She said she left some things at his house, on which he lent her some money. She went to take the money and get the things, when he said he had cut them up for his children, and threw her out of his house on the road. He denied having committed the assault, stating that he merely put her out quietly, as her behaviour was improper. He called a witness, who said her language was shameful; he gave several quotations, composed in part of the vilest words of the English language.

The complainant told the Bench she had no witness, and they dismissed the case.
