I have just added the pubs of Ramsgate in July 2012 and will be updating the pages as time allows, however, with my site increasing in size I cannot guarantee to be able to update these pages with historical data from deep research on a regular basis. I will, however, update this page should anyone be good enough to send me any information about this pub.

Thanet Advertiser, Saturday 3 October 1891.

ADJOURNED LICENSING SESSIONS.

The adjourned licensing sessions for the Ramsgate division of the county was held at the Town Hall on Wednesday morning. The following justices were present:- Mr. H. B. Hammond (chairman), Capt. L. W. Vaile, and Mr. H. Weigall.

THE ELLINGTON ARMS.

Mr. C. J. Mercer applied for the renewal of the license of the above house, and in so doing, said the premises were formerly in the occupation of Mr. John Bull, now deceased. The difficulties in the case were that the licensee had died intestate, and as the heirs could not be found, the administration was unable to be proceeded with. He (Mr. Mercer) now made application for the renewal, for the space of one year, of the temporary license granted to a new tenant, Mr. Horace Kemp, subject to his character being approved by the Superintendent of Police.

Supt. Buss said he was not aware of the matter at all; he had received no notice.

The Clerk (Mr. G. Griggs) stated that none was required. Sergt Tanton was in court at the previous hearing of the application, and knew all about it.

Mr. H. Kemp was examined by the Bench, and in reply to questions, said he had been in the employ of Mr. Fleet, brewer, Ramsgate, for over five years.

The magistrates decided to grant the application.
