64 Tanners Street Faversham
The pub was a beer house only licensed to sell beer throughout its history and was situated opposite the "Bull Inn." It was forced to close in 1935 when the Faversham Magistrates decided there were too many pubs in Faversham per head of population. In the 1960s due to the increase in large lorries having to travel around Tanners Street from Bakers fruit transport from Oare, the buildings on this corner including the "Friendship" were removed to widen the road.
I have just added the pubs of Faversham after a visit to the hop festival in 2012. I will be adding further information as time allows, but with my site getting ever larger, time spent on each pub is being watered down unfortunately. Your information, photos, old or new and licensee names and dates is much appreciated.
