I believe the premises moved location in 1835 after the first hotel with this name was needed for a different use and so moved to its present location on the sea Wall.

Originally called simply the "Pearson's Arms," the pub became a chain titled Steak and Ale House some time before 1987. The building was built as fisherman's cottages, stands opposite the Royal Native Oyster Company on the sea wall.

By 2018 the name had again reverted back to the "Pearson's Arms."
