HOTEL WORKER RECOGNISED FOR SAVING GUESTS FROM FIRE.
Emergency services awards ceremony for lifesaving
WORKERS at a Folkestone hotel received awards for saving a guest from
her burning bed.
Jamie Robb was on duty at Folkestone's Premier Inn last November when
the fire alarm sounded in a room next to reception. He went to
investigate and found the bed on fire, the room full of smoke and the
guest unconscious.
He alerted his duty manager, Luke Smith, and called emergency services.
The pair then rescued the unconscious woman and helped with the
evacuation of the
hotel before firefighters arrived.
Both received certificates of congratulation for their professional
conduct at an awards ceremony on Monday, September 23, presented by Kent
Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) chief executive Ann Millington.
Action
Mr Robb, 33, said: “We have an emergency action plan, which Luke and I
followed and we ensured that we contacted the fire brigade, who were
superb and got everyone out safely.”
Mr Smith, 22, added: “Instinct and good training took over really and
our priority was looking after
the guests.
“It was nice to get the certificates on Monday but we did whatever
anyone else would have done in the same circumstances.
