57 St Mary's Road Faversham
Traced back to 1861 so far the pub closed about 1994 and was purchased by Barry Hunt in 1996, who converted it into a private dwelling with an attached ground floor one bedroom flat with his architect's office over (in what was the function room). Barry goes on to tell me that whilst open it catered for the likes of Jasper Carrot, Gordon Giltrap (who named an instrumental piece of music after the pub). Richard Digence, Jim Davison and Ian Banks (author) it was his local as he lived in the next street St John's Road before his fame.
I have just added the pubs of Faversham after a visit to the hop festival in 2012. I will be adding further information as time allows, but with my site getting ever larger, time spent on each pub is being watered down unfortunately. Your information, photos, old or new and licensee names and dates is much appreciated.
