be used as their offices by the brewery.

From the Kentish Gazette 16 January 1838.
On Wednesday week, a man travelling as a journeyman tailor, out of
work, had a night's lodging at the "White Horse Inn," Faversham. A
short time alter he left the house on Thursday morning, the landlord
(Mr. J. B. Hogben) missed a blanket, three towels, three nightcaps,
and three pillow cases, from the room in which the man had slept.
Being "a limb of the law," he lost no time in pursuing the supposed
delinquent, who was overtaken at Boughton, with the articles in his
possession, brought back to Faversham, and committed for trial.
The prisoner’s name is John Arnold.

From the Kentish Gazette, 14 April 1840.
On Friday last a young woman, named Sarah Ann Raines, only 17 years of
age, underwent an examination before the magistrates of the borough,
charged with having given birth to a still-born male child nine days
previous, that is on Wednesday, the 1st instant, and concealing the same
by throwing the child down the water-closet. The girl lived servant at
the "White Horse Inn," and Mrs. Hogben, the landlady, having observed
peculiarities and alterations in her, closely questioned her on the
subject, when at length, after repeated denials, she confessed the fact.
She was remanded until Saturday, when she was fully committed for the
concealment of the birth. It appears that the birth took place during
the night, and although she had a female companion to sleep with her,
was neither missed nor observed. She had joined in the labours of
washing the whole of the previous day, and was employed the following
morning in hanging out clothes to dry. The child was a remarkably fine
one, but the medical gentlemen were of opinion that it had not breathed.

I have just added the pubs of Faversham after a visit to the hop festival
in 2012.
I will be adding further information as time allows, but with my site
getting ever larger, time spent on each pub is being watered down
unfortunately. Your information, photos, old or new and licensee names and
dates is much appreciated.
