The "Queen's Hotel," was built in the centre of the town in 1884 at a cost of £25,000.

Kelly's 1934 stated that it was under the management of the Folkestone Hotels Syndicate Ltd. and was first-class family and commercial, in a most central position, at 2 Sandgate Road.

From an email received 3 July 2012

I have a share certificate issued in 1885 to my Great Grandfather, James Nisbet Blyth.

They operated a furniture making company in London/Birmingham from 1835 through to approx. 1905.

The company was known as Blyth and Sons and they also supplied Bedding under a Royal Warrant to the Royal Family? Not sure I would want to have slept on Horse Hair Bed Mattress ha ha ha.
