Only known that it was in existence around the turn of the 18th century with Hatton and Cornelius.

Further research has turned up the following advertisement in the Kent Post of 1758.

From the Kentish Post, December 13-16, 1758

Sale of five anchors at the "Scarbro' Castle" (also spelt as Scarborough elsewhere) at the Pier at Dover, December 21st

 

From the Kentish Gazette of 27 December 1811.

At Dover, aged 38, Mr. William Salmon, landlord of the "Scarborough Castle" public house, leaving a disconsolate wife and four small children to lament their loss.

 

The  P4 carries the report of the death of the landlord.
