51 King Street / St Alphege Lane Canterbury
Originally started life as the "Prince of Wales" and then a wine bar called "Merefields" which closed in December 2001 to be transformed into "Scribe's." From information from April 2006 it appears that "Scribe's" had a lap dancing club upstairs that you could visit once you managed to get past the bouncer at the bottom. March 2007 the place was reported as being a nice pub with a big screen projection TV. The lap dancing was still functioning upstairs. Downstairs contained a duke-box, free pool table and dart board amongst other things. No real ale though as identified by CAMRA in 2008. I believe it closed as such at the end of 2008. Half way through 2009 it decided it would be nice to reopen and change name yet again and advertised itself as an exclusive gay bar called "CO2."
