This one was found in a copy of the Kentish Post or Canterbury News. Letter dated Jan.13 to 17, 1748. Sale of Cargo at the Ship Tavern, Dover, Jan. 20. I am afraid I do not know where this pub was, but would assume it to be near or on the docks. There was a "Ship Hotel" at Custom House Quay and Strond Street but the earliest I can trace that back is 1796. It could well be one and the same or at least on the same foundations. But this one predates that by nearly 50 years. Information kindly supplied by Alec Hasenson. More information will be added as soon as I find it.
