(Name from)

Star and Garter

Latest 1905+

34 Military Road

Northgate

Canterbury

Situated on the corner of Union Street opposite the vicarage.

The "Star and Garter" was built by 1830 and I have heard it was formerly called the "British Oak."

I do not yet know when it changed name, or indeed why but believe it would have been from between 1861 and 1874, probably closer to the first year mentioned due to prostitution.
