14 Gladstone Road Deal
I believe this pub used to called the "Wheatsheaf" and changed name on the 9th September 1875. This was situated next door to the "Royal Marine" both of which were frequented by the East Barracks servicemen. There being a convenient passageway opposite titled Guards Passage that led direct to the Barracks. In 1901 the pub gained the name the "Victoria Tap" for some reason, but by the time it closed in 1971 it was, I am told, being run by two old ladies and called the "Victoria Tavern."
