In 1881 the premises was operating as an insurance agency with William Povey age 31 living there. The building stands next door to the "Stage Door" but closed in 1912 and latterly has been used as both a solicitors, a taxi firm, and as of 2014 a hair dressers. See Dartford Map 1905. This was referred to as "Smith's Anchor of Hope" in the 1905 map.
