Gravesend Reporter, North Kent and South Essex Advertiser 10 April 1869.
On Friday Jesse Willett, aged 47, was admitted to the West Kent General
Hospital with both bones of the right leg fractured. It appears that he had
his left leg amputated three years ago, and has since walked with a wooden
leg. While walking up some stone steps in the Sandling-road, near the
"British Queen," Maidstone, his wooden leg slipped, throwing him to the
ground and fracturing his right leg.
