Local historian Patricia Robinson tells me that in 1881 the Milton Regis census recorded the "Chalk Tavern" as being in 'Buggs Field' a the Milton Regis side of Bassett Road was known - the houses on the other side being recorded in Sittingbourne. The "Chalk Tavern" was occupied in that year by Robert Ward and his wife Sarah, Robert's occupation was recorded as being a 'tavern keeper and brickfield labourer'.

 

Found in 1899 as a beer house, I believe the pub closed in 1989 and is now a private residence.

I have also seen this addressed as being in Milton Regis.

THREE LICENCE RENEWALS REFUSED.

The renewal of the licences of the "Highlanders," Minster; the "Ordnance Arms," Queenborough; the "Angel," Rainham; the "Chalk Tavern," Milton; and "Rainham Mark" beerhouse were opposed by the police. The Bench refused the renewal of the licences of the "Highlanders," the "Ordnance Arms," and the "Rainham Mark," but granted renewals to the "Chalk Tavern" and the "Angel Inn."
