From an email received 10 April, 2016. Sir
From my parents I inherited a very old tin mug. That possibly came from
an uncle of mine, who lived in England between 1935 and 1960. On the
bottom is the name engraved of a pub engraved "Old Sunn Northfleet".
Gusti Hueber.
Above photo of the bottom of the Pewter Mug.
The hallmark of a Crown over VR over 354 tell me that it is of late
Victorian origin from between 1879 and 1901 and would have been verified
as an accurate measure in Kent.
The initials G W on the front, suggest to me that it belonged to
licensee George Wood, and I would date that at 1879-80. |
