APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF CLOSING TIME.
The landlord of the "Victoria Hotel," Herne Bay, applied for permission
to keep open till 12 o'clock on the occasion of a mechanics' supper at
his house.
Superintendent Walker:- I should like the Bench to ask who are the
people who will be at the supper, as the Herne Bay publicans are
continually applying for extensions of time for suppers. One has a fat
pig supper, another some other kind of supper; but I believe these
suppers are only got up as excuses for the landlord. The last time the
Bench granted as extension there was a disturbance outside the house at
closing time.
The Chairman said the Bench refused a similar application from Herne Bay
a few weeks ago, and they must refuse the present one.

The building can be traced back to 1864 and possibly earlier, originally
called the "Victoria" but the name was extended to the "Queen Victoria" in
the 1940s.
I believe the pub is closed but haven't been told a date as yet.
