Flooded pubs insurance woes continue for months on.

A pub wrecked by flooding at Christmas is still unable to open because it's insurance company went into administration just days before.

Drake's Cork and Cask flooded 2014

Drakes, cork and Cask in Maidstone, Kent was flooded on Christmas Eve but when Pleisure, which runs the Enterprise own pub, tried to claim it found its insurance company has gone into administration earlier in December.

Now 4 months on the pub remains closed while Pleisure waits for a payout from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme which can only be processed once the administration process is completed.

Nick Griffin, managing director of Pleisure, said: "It's unbelievable bad luck. Now we're stuck with a £95,000 bill. There's very little more we can do at the moment. The pub had to be gutted - it was basically part of the River Medway.

Drakes pub in Maidstone set to close.

A popular pub is set to close after its manager decided to quit - but its owners want to reopen the site as soon as possible.

Drakes in Fairmeadow, Maidstone will temporarily shut its doors before re-opening under new management, according to owners Ei Group.

There are no confirmed dates for when the pub will stop serving and when it will once again open for business.

The pub company is in negotiations with a potential new operator.

A spokesperson for Ei said: "We can confirm that Drakes, Maidstone will close for a short period following the current publican’s decision to cease trading.

"We would like to reassure the local community that we plan to reopen the pub as soon as possible with a new operator and we look forward to welcoming guests for a drink."

Ponga Foods, a vegan restaurant within the tavern, announced its closure on Friday saying this would be its last week serving.
